Registration now open for The iCollaboratory's K-12 Scariest Stories/Fall Poetry Sponsored Project.

Whether it be a scary story or a fall poem, we encourage students to share their literary work and discuss it with one another. Students can use this project to develop their writing skills by sharing and discussing their narrated and/or illustrated (optional) writing in our online community.

The Scariest Stories project activities described below are designed to take about one hour a week in a school computer lab or on set of classroom computers. Teachers should plan to spend an hour a week in addition to the computer time. Students who get involved spend more time writing, sharing and discussing their stories.

Activity 1: The Scariest Survey - October 1-7
1.1 Take The Scariest Stories Survey
1.2 View Survey Results 2009

Activity 2: The Scariest Stories Forum - October 8-14
2.1 Contribute to the Forum

Activity 3: Write & Share Your Scariest Stories - October 15-24
3.1 How to Create your Web Page
3.2 Publish your Scariest Story

Activity 4: Review & Discuss Scariest Stories - October 25-31
4.1 Read other student stories and poetry and comment about what you have read.

To Register for the project you need an iCollaboratory account. Please complete the Create a New Account form at http://www.icollaboratory.org. After you have an account, send email to icollaboratory@northwestern.edu. Let the iCollaboratory Team know you want to have your class participate in the project. The Team members will give you permission to create student accounts and send you instructions for creating student accounts.

We look forward to seeing you and your students in the iCollaboratory's Scariest Stories/Fall Poetry Project.

Thanks you,

Bonnie Thurber
