Dear iCollaboratory Member,

Don't miss out on the opportunity to apply to participate in "TECH 2013," an annual, statewide student showcase at the Illinois State Capitol Building!  This is a wonderful oppertunity for you and your students to share their work in the iCollaboratory!

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Tuesday, January 22, 2013

DATE OF TECH 2013: Tuesday, May 7, 2013

WHAT IS TECH 2013? At this event, schools from throughout the state of Illinois will share technology-enriched classroom projects with state legislators and the general public. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the critical role technology plays in preparing students to succeed in today’s world, and to show legislators the need for increased funding for classroom technology. You may read more about TECH 2013 on the TECH 2013 website. You may also view a video and photos of the TECH 2012 event, download the TECH 2013 brochure, and apply online.

TIMING: Schools selected to participate in TECH 2013 will send a team of four (two or three students and one or two teachers) to Springfield to share a classroom project with legislators on May 7 from approximately 12:30pm-3:00pm.

HOW TO APPLY: Interested in participating in this exciting event? Submit an application by the end of the day Tuesday, January 22 online at http://www.iceberg.org/tech_2013.

SELECTION PROCESS: Applications will be reviewed at the end of the month, and notification of selection status will be announced in early February. Selected teams will represent a balanced distribution between legislative districts, grade levels and curricular areas. The goal of TECH 2013 is to have school representation from every legislative district throughout the state.

It is through your efforts that your students may become key ambassadors to the legislators who serve your school district. With your help we hope that the State of Illinois will increasingly support technology funding for all schools throughout the state.

If you haven't already submitted an application, we hope you'll consider applying!
